Take That hit stage in Middlesex Uni student-designed jackets
Innovative jackets worn by Take That during their recent Progress tour have been a huge success, and it’s no wonder why; a Middlesex University student was behind the excellent design that hit the global stage, which recently peaked with an end-of-June performance at Wembley Stadium.
Second-year BSc product design student Djorn Fevrier was part of a team who were tasked with the design and production of a jacket featuring LED light strips. These flashed in patterns as the band moved from side to side across the stage. Under the tutelage of top designer Moritz Waldemeyer, Djorn developed, programmed and tested the LED strips, ensuring the top pop group wore the outfits they deserved.
Djorn was chosen by Moritz after the designer was impressed by Middlesex University expertise with pop star Ellie Goulding’s music video for Lights (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NKUpo_xKyQ), as well as its input on a Mercedes-Benz TV advert.
The Watford-born youngster said of his experience: “Moritz is a brilliant teacher and really values your input and ideas. I learnt a lot from the project and got a chance to work with very talented and inspirational professionals.”
“Djorn was fantastic,” said Moritz. “Take That were thrilled with the jackets and were impressed with how quickly we were able to create them, which was down to the team. I couldn’t have asked for a better group. The jackets look great.”
